United Way of Salt Lake’s core work focuses on the elimination of racial and economic disparity gaps in education and health outcomes. As we continue to recover from COVID-19 and its effects on our community and community members, we are committed to creating more equitable systems, providing every child and family access to education, financial stability, a healthy life, and opportunities to succeed.

Community Options, Inc. (Utah) - Community Options’ mission is to develop housing and employment supports for persons with disabilities.

The Family Support Center (FSC) is dedicated to strengthening families, providing education, resources, and support to alleviate stress and diffuse the possibility of domestic violence and abuse. Starting with the Crisis Nursery in 1977, FSC has carefully changed, added, and expanded programs to meet the dynamic needs of our populations served and furthering our mission. FSC now provides an interconnected web of services including Crisis Nurseries, Counseling, Family Mentor, LifeStart Village, Adoption Respite and Education Classes (parenting, anger management etc).

iMpact Utah is dedicated to helping Utah manufacturers grow and thrive. We offer full-service training and consultation services in partnership with the Utah MEP to accelerate the growth of manufacturers and rural businesses across the state

DDI Vantage promotes and provides exemplary services to facilitate the development and independence of children, adults and families with special needs. Serving the community since 1971, DDI Vantage offers Early Intervention, Early Head Start and Child Care, and Adult and Youth Services programs.

The Sharing Place provides grief support to children 3-18 and their parents. Support groups are organized by age as well a situation. Each family member is placed in a group that will best meet their individual needs.

EyeCare4Kidsâ„¢ provides professional eye care to low-income, visually-impaired children and underserved families.

The organization has helped more than 400,000 children receive professional eye exams, vision screenings and glasses, when needed.

Community Involvement Opportunities

American Cancer Society (Utah) - The American Cancer Society is here to help through our local programs, services, and community events.

American Heart Association (Utah) - The American Heart Association depends on the time and talent of volunteers to help us create a healthier world, free of heart disease and stroke. Whatever your capabilities, interests or schedule may be, we can find a volunteer opportunity that's right for you.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (Utah) - Whether you donate your time or dollars, life-changing breakthroughs in T1D treatments and therapies couldn’t happen without you.

Jordan River Commission - Our volunteer program typically runs between April 1 and October 31 each year. Volunteer opportunities include tree planting, weed pulling, native grass and wildflower seeding, and trash pick up depending on the time of year and location of the project. We have opportunities for both individuals and groups to assist with the beautification and restoration of the Jordan River Parkway.

Kearns Food Pantry is one of the larger pantries in the state serving 20-25,000 clients a year.

Muscular Dystrophy Association - Ways to get involved with events or to help families who have loved ones affected by Muscular Dystrophy.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (Utah) - Volunteers are vital to the success of NAMI and its mission. It is volunteers who run the local affiliates, teach classes, lead support groups, assist with the annual Walk, and so much more.

People Helping People - Help us break the cycle of poverty by sharing your successful work experiences, becoming a coach or mentor, employing our clients, making a contribution or referring a low-income woman.

The Road Home assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and along the Wasatch Front. The Road Home provides multiple services to help people overcome homelessness.

Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity - Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity provides opportunities for organizations and thousands of individuals to take action in the fight against substandard housing. Working together to help people become successful homeowners creates stability in the community.

The Taylorsville Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides emergency food to the residents of Taylorsville, Utah. We are staffed by volunteers.

Utah Food Bank - Volunteer Your Time. Help Feed Utah. We can’t distribute 31.8 million meals statewide without your help.

Volunteers of America (Utah) - Our volunteers positively impact the lives of approximately 10,000 children, youth, women, and men living in Utah every year.
